Q: 2000 mazda miata with intermittant firing. Sometimes it runs rough and somtimes it won't start. Is it a sensor
Runs good then rough and sometimes it seems to fix itself while running rough and blast off to run fine for a while. Lately it's not had enough fire to start. After unpugging the cam sensor, cooling it down then plugging it back in it starts right back up. What is up?
A: try changing the sparks plugs and wires, pcv valve and air filter, if problem continues try an ecu scan
electrical issues are a true pain to find and more if they are intermitent problems
Q: What do you think about a 2000 Mazda Miata for a new teen driver?
Do you think it is safe enough for a new teen driver? My dad found one and is thinking about buying it.
So, I'm pretty much talked out of that.
So, what about these?
VW Bug
VW Passat
Toyota Camry
Toyota Corolla
A: I think you are giving up on the miata a little fast. I do not know how many of the people that have answered this drive a miata (I do!).
The miata is not the safest car because it is quite small, meaning not very visible by the people driving land yachts. It will force you to compensate by driving well and very defensively, which is what a teen driver should learn to do anyways. You can easily install a roll bar / roll hoops for little money in it, there are plenty of aftermarket options available at all prices (and you should do it for added safety).
On the upside, the miata is very agile, predictable, forgiving, with great brakes. It is very reliable (many miatas happily drive past 200k miles) and fuel efficient. The second generation miata (2000) has a 1.8 engine that is just enough power, but not too much, perfect for the car weight and balance. The miata is probably the only sports car that is as much fun to drive at 30 mph as it is to drive at 90 mph, and will not push you to always go faster.
Now here are the real pros and cons of having a miata as a teen.
pro: You will enjoy driving this car more than anything else out there (many people prefer miatas over sports cars 3 times as expensive because they are just more fun!). This car will make a very good driver of you. It has an outstanding track record for reliability, and is very fuel efficient. On top of this, you will be the teen queen of style with a car like this!!!
con: There are safer choices out there (altho no 90's car will be much safer, as the crash structures and materials have evolved tremendously since then). Only 2 seats - you will not be able to drive your friends around. Recommend to install roll bars or roll hoops if you buy it (minor hassle).
You MUST drive this car responsibly or you can put yourself in trouble.

Q: How long does it take a 1992 mazda miata to get from zero to sixty?
A: 9.3 seconds automatic
8.9 seconds 5 speed
Q: what are the best tires for a mazda miata?
It's a 2000 MX-5 LS, with 15" rims. These would be summer tires only. I have a winter set.
A: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 or Michelon Pilot Sports. Hands down the best summer performance tires available.
Q: What year Mazda Miata did they drop a V8 into on Spiketv?
I don't remember the show but I watched them drop a Ford V8 into a Miata and can't remember the year they used.
A: Stacey bought a 1995 Miata off ebay... the white one you see on the show.
ALSO he showed it was possible to do a Ford V-8 but he used a different engine than the 302.
Q: Where can I get schematics or a diagram on the manual transmission for a '99 Mazda Miata?
Any particular book? or a website?
A: you can get a service manual from the auto parts store.
Q: I have a 1995 Mazda Miata that is begining to develope "clutch" issues,I have to struggle to chane gears.?
Over the past few days the "Clutch" on my Mazda Miata (1995) has started to act-up. In short it is difficult to change gears, more like a struggle. Any one else with this problem or have any suggestions?
A: if its biting at the very floor you need it adjusted..either cable or hydrolic[which may need bleed of air].
Q: What type of engine'oil that I should use for mazda miata 1998?
A: 10W-30 will cover almost all temperature ranges. Mazda recommends 5W-30 for winter use. I personally use synthetic 10W-30 while its warm and 5W-30 when its cold.
Q: How many miles does a 2000 mazda miata get to the gallon?
A: There are several variables, but the general listing for the 2000 Miata is about 25 MPG City and 29 MPG Highway. Having said that...I own a 1991 Miata standard 5 speed. The same general listing says, 25 City and 30 Highway. I usually get 35-36 MPG City and 38-40 MPG Highway.
I get that good on fuel economy because I always keep the tires inflated to precise pressure; don't hot rod it; the top is always down so the AC is never on; I keep the air filter changed regularly; keep the oil and plugs changed like clock work.
So you can expect to get at least 25 in town and 30 on the highway...and better if you have a manual transmission, keep a solid maitenance program, and don't hot dog it. And by not hot doging it I am not talking about driving under the speed limit. I am talking about how you accelerate the Miata from a stop. An even and steady acceleration will help your fuel economy drastically over seeing if you can go from 0-60 in 5 seconds. I found by just having an even and steady acceleration my in town fuel economy increased by two miles per gallon and my highway increased by almost three miles per gallon on the highway.
Q: Is a 2003 Mazda Miata LS Convertible a girl or guys car?
Its a white 2003 Mazda Miata LS Convertible.
A: You clearly have an issue thinking that a car is either "for girls" or "for boys."
I recommend that you buy a truck. Or a HMMWV.
Q: Do homosexuals really dig a mazda miata?
Not to offend miata owners and homosexuals everywhere, I mean, a miata is really a cool car, but some TV shows (especially shows shown in comedy central) show that gay men always rides a miata, so what gives? Why do they labeled a miata for being a gay car? Is it stereotyping? Hope someone shed light to this. Thanks!
A: It has been labeled a chick car or girly-man car by some people who feel the need to bash others. Every car magazine that has tested the car since 1990 has given it good reviews and it is the #1 roadster of all time in terms of sales; so an awful lot of people must like it.
Of course it is stereotyping. If you're worried about the label don't buy one, if you're secure and like them go for it.
Q: Pontiac Solstice or the Mazda MX5 Miata?
Which one of these sports cars would you like to have on your driveway? Would you rather have the legendary (best selling roadster in the world) Mazda MX5 Miata with its responsive and nimble handling and world-class performance (for its size)? Or, would you rather have the roadsters from GM, the Solstice and Sky, that are fun (maybe not as fun as the Miata) and stylish? Go ahead and give it a shot, who knows, you might even win some points.
A: I would have to say the Miata. Granted it is not the most manly of cars out there, but it has a lot more going for it:
Miata-
-smoother, higher revving motor
-better transmission
-handles better, lighter and more responsive
-reliable
-better resale
-better top design
Solstice-
-looks nice
-clunky Chevy Colorado 5 sp manual
-lousy top design
-poor ergonomics
-ecotec motor nothing special
-heavy
-cheapo interior
I would be a lot more certain of the Mazda's ability to still be running well in 5yrs and to still be worth a good amount of money. They have been around for 15+ years and many of them are still on the road. The Solstice was a last hour, desperation car ordered put together from the GM parts bin by Bob Lutz. It was initially well reviewed and sold well, but has cooled off a lot as of late.
Q: Would switching to premium fuel be good for my '96 Mazda Miata?
It has around 90k, but I know that premium fuel runs much cleaner than regular. I just got the car used and it has been run on regular unleaded since day 1. I have been told that it will also give you better gas mileage and possible a little boost in torque, but the higher price offsets that. The price of gas is not the issue, I just don't want to switch to premium and my car freak out on me and blow up or something! :) Thanks
A: it could not hurt........................... ll
