Q: How Do i Fix the vents on my 2006 Mazda 6?
i want to know how to replace the a/c vents on my center console. they broke and i heard you have to take the whole radio off and the shifter and everything just to get to it. if anyone knows that would be great. i dont see how they come off and if you pull them, they are so fragile they will break anyway. any answers?

A: Hi if it english spec mazda 6 then you are best getting a garage to have a look at this. I have worked on mazda 6 vehicle for a while now and they arent to bad for a mechanic but can be fiddly if you dont know how. Basically the glovebo centre cupholer cigarette lighter housing need to be moved which will unveil the screws and bolts you need to remove. Also if the vehicle has manual air con then you need to pull the 3 knobs off to unveil more screws. If it is climate control then you dont need to worry about them. PLese get in touch if i can be of any mroe assistance

Q: How much do break pads cost for a 2003 Mazda 6?
I need brakes for all four wheels. The dealer told me they were 60% worn almost 2 years ago. I don't want to be robed by another mechanic just because I'm a female. I was once charged $52 for wipers when I only should have paid around $7.

A: If you are going to pay to have your brakes done, you can use a rule of thumb of roughly $150.00 per axle, including machine work. 1 axle front, 1 axle rear). If you need rotors or calipers, this will run quite a bit more. When you do the brake job, find a REPUTABLE repair shop and ask for an inspection. They may charge you for the inspection, but offer to refund the inspection fee when they do the work. Also be certain to have the rotors machined (if not beyond limits). Finally, don't scrimp on the pads. You can find pads for as little as $10.00 per axle, but you get what you pay for. Ask for the premium lining, (Ceramic composition) as they will last longer and give you much better performance, (probably around $60.00 or less per axle, plus labor). Remember--->your (and possibly MY) life depends on this decision and repair. Good Luck

Q: What does this light on the dashboard of 2008 Mazda 6 mean?
There is a light that comes on once I turn the key in the ignition. It looks something like this ( ! ) ---- Note: That bottom line is supposed to be right on the bottom of brackets, making a u-shaped figured. Also, instead of dotted line, it's more of a zig-zag line. I do not have a manual for the car. Does anyone know of a web-site where I can look at one?

A: tire pressure. check your owner manual, they should have a list of light and explanation of those light.

Q: Could I get conformation on a Mazda 6 2.0litre DEIS 2003 TIMING BELT OR CHAIN AND WHEN TO CHANGE?
I need to know wether I am required to change these as part of the cars service at 65,000 miles or are there no specification?

A: Hi, 2003 Mazda6 with 2.0L engine likes Mazda6 2.3L and 3.0L has timing CHAIN. Regular engine oil change will help chain and chain guides last a long time. If you have to remove the chain, special tools are needed to align camshafts and crankshaft. You will also see a small chain at the bottom. It is for running oil pump. The new Mazda 2.0L engine is not a same old 2.0L timing belt engine that was used in US 2002 Mazda 626 and older and other models around the world. Mazda6 with 2.0L engine option is not available in US and Canada market since 2003 until today. It is available in Europe, Middle east, Asia, along side the Mazda6 with 2.3L engine.

I was looking at Katskin and they have kits, how much for kit and installation should I be looking at total?

A: It depends on the shop. Call around and see what you can find. I used to work at a car dealership and we got a full leather interior installed for a customer on an Accord for about $800.

Q: '03 Mazda 6 has an awful groaning sound when turn or go over bumps slowly. What are possible problems?
It does not start off groaning loudly, only after I have been driving for a few minutes. any suggestions of how I can do it myself? thanks

A: It could be a number of things. A bad tire, bad wheel bearing(s) and or hubs, struts, strut mounts, cv axles, control arm bushings. I dont think you can do it yourself. I'd take it into a shop next week and have it diagnosed. Most national shops will check it for no charge.

Q: What low profile tires to put on a 2003 Mazda 6?

My check engine light just came on yesterday and the dealership tested it and said my PCV hose was cracked and they want to replace it and the gaskets. The want to charge 500 for parts and labor and I'm thinking I don't want to go that route. Where is this located and is it easy to fix?

A: $500.00 dollars? all you need is a piece of 3/8 hose. just hook 1 end of the hose to the intake and the other end to the pcv valve.

Q: Chevy Cobalt LTZ or Mazda 6 grand touring?
I am looking to buy a new car and I've gotten it down to three choices, I could get a 1.) 2006 Cobalt with 17000 miles on it fully loaded with everything(sunroof, spoiler, leater heated seats...) 14500 dollars 2.) I could get a brand new cobalt with everything, plus remote start which runs 18500 or I could get the mazda 6 grand touring which is 21000 I'm having hard time choosing. Help, give me all the info you can to convince me what to buy!

A: It depends on what is most important to you. 1. The Mazda 6 is a lot better car than the Cobalt. 2. The Cobalt should be compared to the Mazda 3. 3. The Mazda 6 should be compared to the Malibu. 4. Now that we have established that you are not comparing apples to apples. 5. If price is most important- Get the used Cobalt with an extended warranty to cover out to 10yrs-100K miles, will end up around $16K which will be around $320 a month on conventional rates. 6. If you like the Cobalt and can spend up to $21K, cheack out the 2007 Cobalt SS. That is a fun car to drive! 7. But if you are looking for something functional with style that will last 8+ yrs. Buy the Mazda 6! For approx. $420 a month.

Q: How much money in gas would I be spending if I drove to Florida in a Mazda 6 with 3 of my friends?
I'm taveling about 1200 miles from NY to Florida. I'm traveling about 1200 miles from NY to Florida.

A: Assuming you'll get around 23 mpg (my friend gets this with his 6), you'll be using 52.17 gallons of fuel. At roughly $4.00 per gallon, thats $208.69. you mention three friends plus yourself, so dividing that total by 4 people is $52.17 per person. Obviously your driving habits and fuel cost can alter this amount.

Q: Dynomat a good choice to eliminate road noise for my Mazda 6?
I'm considering getting this done at Best Buy Labor costs: 39.99 for front two doors 39.99 for back two doors 59.99 for the trunk Materials costs: 96.99 for the materials for the front doors 96.99 for the materials for the back doors 36.99 for the materials for the trunk Good, or can I do some of this myself. Please be very descriptive.

A: I have Dyna Mat in my car. You can do the trunk and rear wheel housing yourself. Next the section in the trunk that houses the spare donut tire should be completely covered, then up by the rear speakers directly in the back seat, make sure this material is near. After wards, I would have someone else do the rest because it takes a little more know how than what it appears in adding front and rear door insulation. When the project is completed, you will be very pleased. What is most noticeable are rain soaked roads will not make so much noise in the cabin. The overall acoustics are improved to allow sound to be even more crisp and linger on certain performances. It is one of those items that makes all of the sense in the world to have added the material at the factory instead of styrofoam or nothing else at all in some sections of the car. Enjoy.
