Has the base model changed from the new car today since the 2004 car. It looks very similar. Has anything on the car changed?
A: The changes are evolutionary. The new Mazda 3 comes with a larger and more fuel efficient 2.5 litre engine. Horsepower is increased by 10 -15 bhp and overall fuel mileage is increased by 5%. The undercarriage has a horizontal brace that provides stiffer body construction, to encourage better handling. The center face dials for controls has more precise electrical dial applications over the previous economy laden mechanical dials. The front air dam has a Mazda trademark smile to better increase air into the engine. I believe this version of the Mazda 3 now comes with a dual exhaust instead of the single exhaust pipe. The plastic fit and finish with the interior surfaces are improved, a more upscale feel. If not now, in the near future, Mazda has a stop start feature to improve miles per gallon. Mazda claims that the system is one of the faster applications in the market, making it un-noticeable to the driver. And eventually, the Mazda 3 will have a red LED light on the drivers side rear view mirror that will make an audible sound when a car is in the driver's blind spot. The catalytic converter is a break through in nanotechnology, it will substantially reduce green house emissions from the exhaust.

A: Depends on your preference.
The only difference is the engine displacement. The Sport is a 2.3 Liter, 156 Horsepower and the Tourning is a 2.0 Liter, 148 Horsepower.
Chance are you won't even feel the difference.
Personally, I would go with the 2.0 Liter Touring.
It will be slightly less expensive with the same options and you will get about 2-3 miles per gallon better mileage.

Q: Can I put 215/45/17 tires on my 2004 Mazda 3 GT Sport Wagon?
My car has 5 spoke 17 inch factory alloys and the tires are 205/50/17. Will the 215/45/17's be lower sidewall and wider tread?
On some of the Mazda forums, members report having put the 215/45 on the 6.5 inch rims. How serious is this mistake? Is safety or tire wear the issue?
A: Yes the 215/45R17 has a lower sidewall and wider tread. The problem is the approved minimum rim width for a 215/45R17 tire is 7.0 inches. Your Mazda rims are 6.5 inches wide. Therefore, while you may be able to squeeze them on, I can not recommend this installation.

Better looking.
Bigger engine, yet economic.
Comfort is higher.
Suspension is much better.
Brake system also is better.
Some other extras.
Both are very reliable and have great resale value.
I would pick the Mazda.

A: It is a great car.
Better than a Toyota Corolla, but not better than a Honda Civic.
It handles the best in its class and is most fun to drive.
It comes with everything you need.
CD Player, A/C, and lots of other standard features and options that you usually find in expensive cars.
It is very reliable. Easily lasts 200,000 miles.

A: hey im a toyota mechanic id prefer the toyota the difference is the rav 4wd!!! u can go almost anywhere wear is the mazda 3 u couldnt drive thru a childs sandpit...the rav 4 is a v6 so it has more power but less fuel economy compared to the mazda if ur an outdoors kinda person take the rav 4 but if its just a run about city car never of the road go the mazda
Q: My brand new Mazda 3 "check engine" light is on...why??
I just bought a brand new 2007 mazda 3 sport. The engine light suddenly turned on when i started it midway through the day, and has been on since. What could be causing this? is it safe to drive??
A: There could be hundreds of reasons that light is on, it is the computers way of alerting you of a problem. It could be something serious or something as simple as leaving the car running while fueling which casuses an evap system fault.
The car is most likely safe to drive, but get to the dealer and have them put the car on a scanner to find out what the fault is. Being a new car, will be covered under warranty hopefully.
Usually if the problem is serious enough to make the car unsafe to drive the check engine light will be flashing rather than on steady. I highly recommend reading the owners manual cover to cover, I promise its kinda boring but you will learn stuff about your new car you didn't know. My $.02 worth.
