Q: How do I clear error codes for Lexus LS 400 cd player?
My 1996 Lexsus LS400 cd changer will not eject. I just hear a clicking sound and the panal displays "CD Error 13. I think I put a CD in upside down and its stuck between the cartridge stopping it from ejecting. can anyone help me....can I clear that code without the dealer

A: Usually if the CD is stuck in the player the clearing the error codes might not even help. The only way to clear the code is at the dealer, because they will have to use a special computer to reset the code (unless there is a separate code for the player which would be hard to locate as well)

Q: 94 Lexus LS 400 rpg gauge not working loses acceleration while driving?


A: I believe your (not working) rpg gauge is tied into your acceleration problem because of pressure loss. The line coming off the block is pro bally the problem. You might be able to hear it if you pop your hood and scurry around,to the front of your car, an listen for it , right after you shut the engine off!

A: You can usually do this by taking the lid off of the reservoir and then putting a C clamp across one of the old pads and back of the caliper. (while the pad is in place) Crank down on the C clamp slowly (so that no fluid shoots out of the reservoir) until there is enough space to fit the new pads and have them fit over the rotor. This method doesn't open the system, so air can't get in. (No need to bleed the system afterwards) :)

A: Like any car, who own it and how well was taken care of. You have to consider is a high mileage car and in any book still high mileage. That is where the part of how well is maintained comes in place.

A: I think a smoky grey is alway nice. You will need to check local laws for amount of tint allowed so you don't have to spend more money removing something too dark.

A: You will probably have to go "aftermarket" to get a CD changer for your car. A good supplier which I have had good experience with is Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com). They have a function called "Outfit my car." Choose the car year, the brand, model, and then what kind of stereo your car currently has (your car has two choices: with Nakamichi and without Nakamichi). The site then will give you a list of stereos and options that can be purchased. Just glancing at the website you may have limited options on such an old unit. Good luck with it.

Please help me ASAP! I have a 1991 Lexus ls 400 . My trunk has decided not to close anymore. So i took it to a friend who said it was this thing where the latch is. That had broke it has two blots one on each side. Well one of the washers and bolts broke off . So he put some more on but i cant get it to close. He did when i was at the shop but you had to push the trunk a certain way. I was told to go and find this part. Well me being a girl and not knowing much about trunk parts i have NO clue as in what that part is called or where to find it. I dont want to go to Lexus cuz it will cost to much. Please help. A: If he showed you and you know where the part is on the car your best bet would be to find a parts store close to you and show them the part that you are needing. They may not have it in stock but can probably order it or they can tell you if it is a dealer only item that has to be ordered through Lexus.

Q: What does the Air Control Valve (acv) valve control in a 1992 lexus LS 400?


A: The power steering ratio is variable by speed and the acv helps boost the ratio. Kinda hard to explain. Sorry if that doesnt help. But if it leaks power steering fluid can get in your engine and burn with whitish blue smoke on startup. I have a 1994 ls400 join the clublexus.com forums it is a huge help. A: No, according to my Lexus mechanic it will not damage your engine. You may not get top performance, but will you notice? I have never used anything but regular gas (LS430,GX470,GS450h) and I do fine. Can anyone tell the difference? Maybe. But can you tell enough to spend an extra 20 cents per gallon? Your choice; I'll stick with regular.

When you turn the key to the open position the opener moves a little but not fully. when you pull on the handle it wont open. i dont want to tear the door panel out just to get to the lock.... if this has happend to someone please tell me what do i do ive almost tried everything.

A: I would suggest spraying some wd40 in the key hole, it may just be gunked up. If you can get it open, spray some on the mechanism that latches the door to the sill as well.

A: YOU can trade it just to Lexus LS430.Otherwise You will miss it a lot.I did trade to MB ,and allways rimember my LS400 .It was THE CAR.

A: I'm sure it's a good car, problem is high mileage V-8 lexus motor isn't going to be cheap to fix either. I was going to buy old boss's '00 GS400 for about $12k had a book of $20k but found out it had similar miles on it to the one you are looking at and turned him down just for I don't wanna pay for the repairs when they come up.

my 90 lexus ls 400 alternator died and i replaced it with a rebuilt one. after i finished the install, i plugged the the battery cable , with first the positive and then the negative. the instant the negative cable touch the plug it sparked for about a good 2 seconds and i thought nothing of it cause i seen battery cable sparkes before. i then continued to test the alternator by starting the car. the car starts up great, but i notice something was different. my instrament panel did not light up and on a lexus it lights up automatic day or nite. i checked the radio and nothing. try to moved the seats back and no movement. rolled down the windows , didnt even twitch. by this time i realize that nothing works inside the car. no brake lights, no signal.. the only thing that work was the engine and the headlights. i check the fuse box underneath the driverside seat and no fuse was was blown. i then check under the hood and notice the buss fuse for the alternater was blown i replaced there and then. and the result was the same. are there anyone who encounter this problem before? if so please help, and i will thanx u a million!!

A: The first thing I would check would be the alternator to make sure first that its charging correctly and second make sure that its not shorted out and or drawing current while the vehicle is off.
