Q: I have a 1995 ES 300 Lexus, the air blows out cold in the am, and at night, but hot air when its hots outside?
I have a 1995 ES 300 Lexus, I had the A/C serviced recently but the air is still not working properly, had the freon put in and the dye, and in the mornings the airs blows out cool air, and in the evenings it blows out cool air, but when it gets hot outside the cool air stops blowing and then it starts blowing hot air. Please can you tell my what the problem may be?
A: You probably need to get the A/C recharged. The A/C takes air from outside and cools it, that's why it is cool in the AM and at night, and hot during the day.
Recharge your A/C, any mechanic.
Q: How do I get the timing gear bolt off a 1993 Lexus ES 300?
We have tried impact wrenches, breaker bars and everything we could think of. The bolt is starting to strip. Please help. Thank you.
Sorry it is the cam sprocket bolt.
A: I assume you mean the harmonic balancer bolt right? I take a torch and heat towards the end of the bolt head but not so much on the balancer. All it takes is a little heat an it should spin right out with a good impact gun

Q: Does car alarm shut off ignition, on a Lexus ES 300?
My son's car needed a jump, he left the lights on his 1995 Lexus 300ES. As I hooked up the cables the alarm went off Because the keys weren't in the ignition, I think. I removed the cables and it stopped, inserted the key, and jumped it again.
When we tried to start the car, everything worked (radio, headlights, etc.) but the ignition would not.
If it is the alarm preventing it from starting, what is the cure?
A: if it has an alarm hook up the cables so the alarm goes off then deactivate it with the remote. if you dont have the remote then you need to take it to an alarm shop and get a remote programmed for it if they cant they will have to remove the alarm and you will need to get an aftermarket alarm for it but yea it wont start because the alarm was on.
when you try to jump a car with an alarm even if you have the keys in the ignition the alarm will go off its a fail safe so noone can jump your car to hotwire it. but just do as i said jump it and disactivate the alarm with remote and it should turn over with ignition.
Q: Why do 1992 Lexus ES 300 moves off slow?
I 1992 Lexus ES 300; when I am revere if drive’s fine but when I put it in drive it takes a good time to move off and it also has a smell fume when I put on the heat.

A: Smells like your lexus a has coolant leak in the heater core.Its hard to say why your engine has lost power on acceleration , none of the above is a home fix unless your a auto repair tech.
Q: how can i check my altenator and battery? i have a lexus es 300 1992?
the battery is not holding the charge and every time that i leave my car over night it wont start i dont know if is the battery or altenator how can i check it?
A: Take it to Autozone or Sears and they will test both for free.
If you must test it for yourself, get a voltmeter. With the engine running, the voltage across the battery should read about 15V (14.8v). If it is above 16 v or below 13 volts - the alternator has failed. If the alternator is fine, then the battery is NOT holding charge so it must be the battery.
NOTE: often when the alternator has failed, that will cause the battery to stay discharged long enough to weaken or fail the battery.

Q: How many miles can you expect out of a 1998 Lexus ES 300?
I'm looking at a used one that has about 107,000 miles on it right now and I want to buy it but how long can it keep going do you think? Is this a good car??? reliable, safe, maintenance costs aren't too high, etc?? All I have heard is good things about this car so I really would like to purchase it!!
A: usually around 120,000 you have some problems with the suspension, theres other minor problems that show up also. the motor should hold for 5- 600,000 miles. my neighbors is a 96 and he has 450,000, and he said he has replaced the strutts every 120 to 125,000 mile . cjhs
Q: How much oil do you guys put in your Lexus ES 300?
I own an 01 ES and it seems like every time I go to get the oil changed I have a little leak for about a week or two. Then it stops. I am thinking it's because they put too much oil in? The manual says 5 quarts, which is what they are putting in. I have taken it to different places and still have the problem, so I think it is the amount. Do you think it would be okay to ask them to put 4.5 in?
A: no....4.8 quarts gaurenteed i am a basic mechanic and its at a lube shop...its not leaking the oil filter comes off and lands directly onto your skid plate...the big black plastic thing underneath the car....it takes 6 10mm bolts in yours try them if you think im kidding....the filter drops all that oil and it stays on the plate it just runs off and thats creating a look of it leaking...i promise you no leaks

I was told by the lexus dealership it was the lower hose...I looked and I can't even tell where the lower hose goes because its right up against the belts...I hope the person I spoke to at lexus was mistaken (wrong year?)because if she was right its going to be a major deal to get it changed...
A: If the dealer told you it was going to be a major deal to change it. I would have to believe them. I've seen some thermostats that an alternator and a power steering pump. Had to be removed to get at it. Under the hood any more on cars is getting pretty crowded.

My car just started smoking out from under the hood, and when I looked under neath it, oil was spitiing out all over the engine and there was not a drop of oil left in it. What could have happened?
A: A gasket or seal designed to prevent such a thing from happening has failed. Not typical of the brand at all.
If you lost all the oil rapidly it may be a larger seal like one on the oil pan or perhaps a failed rocker cover gasket.
Check your oil filter as it may be the source of the issue. Sometimes the gasket on the oil filter sticks to the engine block when a change is performed. The new oil filter is installed and the gaskets get double stacked and it's only a matter of time for a bad leak.
If you lost the oil quickly I'd look there first.
