Q: Is $3,000 to much for this? Tell my your best offer!?
I'm selling my beautiful 1990 Lexus es 250 Chrome edition. Power locks,windows,mirrors,sun roof,driver seat.Alarm, Wood Grain and Leather interior original stereo (Am/Fm/Tape) with manuel equalizer. Owner manuel and receipts dating back since my Aunt Got it new (2 owners). 129,000 miles but still runs new. Thanks.

Q: i need a new transmission?
for a 1996 honda accord lx. could i switch the one i have in my 1990 lexus es 250? most likely not... but where can i find out how to change it myself? and or find another one for cheap?

A: Go to a salvage yard to get the replacement transmission. If you get a repair manual and follow the steps, it's no big deal. I just changed the automatic transmission in my daughter's 1990 GEO. The replacement came from a 1993 Toyota Corolla. There were some minor differences on the mounting brackets and speedometer hookup so I set the replacement transmission beside the used one and changed everything that was different from the bad transmission to the good. If you decide to do the job yourself, get yourself a roll of masking tape and a sheet of paper. Everything you unhook, give it a number, write it on two pieces of masking tape and stick it on both parts of the plug or linkage. On the piece of paper, write the number down and describe the part or plug you took off. It's also a good idea to describe the location of the old part or plug. If you follow the book, there's really nothing to it. Remember, the mechanic is no smarter than you. He only has more experience and there was a time he didn't know any more than you do now. My first preference of a manual is the dealers manual for their mechanics but it can be difficult to obtain. Dealers don't like to give them up. Second choice is Motor's manual if you can find one. Third is a Chilton's manual and last a Haynes manual. Whichever one you get make sure it for your year of car. Your numbered sheet of paper becomes a check list when you start hooking things up. Sometimes a digital camera can help you get things back in place if you take pictures before you unhook anything. Before digital cameras, I used Polaroid instant picture cameras and pictures do help. Q: smoking and burning smell from under the hood of my car. see picture. Please help!?

It doesn't smoke EVERY time i drive it. for example when I decided to take it to the mechanic, it wasn't smoking and he didn't see a leak so i left. But i just drove for only 10 minutes and it a small amount of smoke was coming out of the car. What could be causing the white smoke??? thanks for your help. Engine Type V-6, dohc 24 valve, mpfi Engine Size 3.0 liter/181 cid Cars temp is fine. not overheating, running normal. just smoke and smell

A: This sounds like a drip to me. Coolant would have a sweet type smell to it, oil would have more of a burning type smell. Chances are, when you drove to the mechanic, the car was hot enough to burn off whatever is slowly leaking. A good visual look with a flashlight both above and below might give you a better idea of what it is. If you had something serious going on you would probably be overheating so I doubt that it's serious at this time. But get right on this situation as soon as you can. This engine and car look relatively new unless the photograph is really making it look surprisingly clean. Good luck to you..
