Q: What can you tell me about the 2001 Honda Accord EX Coupe?
I am in the market for reliable and cheap used car. I found a 2001 Honda Accord EX Coupe that has never been in an accident or anything. It has 58,000 on it and is selling for $9,895. Would this be worthwhile?

A: Accords are good cars, but I would stay away from that generation Honda Accord. The car has problem with: Premature Alternator bearing failure Passenger seat SRS sensor going out Pilot bearing failure Premature Transmission failure (Honda extended the transmission warranty to 100,000 miles, but only applies to the first buyer)

Q: Do I need special tool to change oil filter for 94 honda accord ex?
I've changed oil years ago for a different car but never on my honda accord. Oil part is easy, but after reading the owner's manuel saying to use a special tool to remove oil filter, I wasn't sure if I could do it by bare hand. Anybody?

A: There is a speacial tool, shouldnt be more than 10 bucks at your local parts store that will allow you to remove an oil filter from any car. However, i find that many times im able to twist off the filter by hand on most cars.

Q: Is it worth buying an exhaust kit for Honda Accord?
I want to buy one for Honda Accord V6. Should I get Borla, flowmaster, or magnaflow or any other kit for less than $900. I want to make my car sound very loud. What about glasspacks? Do they last long?

A: Namaste. I have an 03 Accord v6 with a Greddy Evo2 exhaust system on it..and its awsome!! You'll love the sound. Its not too loud like a rice rocket, and sound like a G35. It's the loudest at 3-4 rpms, and at that range it will set off alarms in a parking garage, other than that its great! Personally Borla, Flowmaster, Magnaflow is not my taste...it's too american and not really for imports...now that's my personal opinion. I also put in an AEM V2 intake the same day I bolted on the exhaust. Those two combo works great, imediate horsepower and torque. Not to mention I'm getting 30more miles per full tank. I don't know what else you have done to your car, but dont be a cheap Desi and just get the exhaust for the sound..or to look cool. the intake and headers as well. I don't know how many people who have answered before me actually own a v6 accord..let alone have any epxerience at moding one...so think twice on their advice bro. Also, I hope you not doing this just for sound, and sound only!! Then your just a poser, and i'll be the first to laugh. If you want pure performance, then you take out the catalyc converter and resonator...and do a straight piping from your headers..all the way back to the rear. You'll get ticketed right away, cuz its illegal and you wont pass smog test. It's VERY loud..but it will be pure power. Also dont get some cheap load exhaust..thats all sound and no go....lame.... good luck

Q: How much should it cost to get a master brake cylinder replaced in a 96 Honda Accord?
Just looking for a ballpark range in what is reasonable for parts and labor. It is a 1996 Honda Accord EX sedan, 4-cylinder, ABS. Does something like this need to be done at the dealer or any repair shop? Also, is there any other maintenance that can/should be done simultaneously? Like hoses or pads?

A: The master cylinder should cost between $100-$125. Labor is charged by the hour depending on the shop. I could do this in about 2 hours. It does not have to be done by the dealer - it is a fairly simple job. It does not entail any hoses or belts, but they should replace the brake fluid. Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years because it is very hydrophilic - it attracts water like crazy. People don't understand that after 2 years water WILL find it's way into the brake fluid. And brake fluid gets hotter than 212 degrees - so steam bubble appear. And the steam is compressable so the brakes get mushy.

Q: How would you go about installing wig wag flashers in a Honda Accord?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord, that I'd like to install a wig wag flasher in. Has anyone done this, and if so, how hard was it? The car is a POV rig for a volunteer fire department.

A: i've done it in a dodge durango once. not that hard a matter of getting a power source and tapping into the light fuse box. make sure you tie it into the high beams and not the low

Q: What oil do I put in a 2002 honda accord?
I got a 2002 honda accord 4 cylinder a few months ago and I need to get some oil for it. Is there a certain kind I should use?

A: This is right from the owner's manual: Recommended Engine Oil: API Premium grade 5W-20 detergent oil (see page 250 & 251 of the owner's manual). https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/om/AC0202/AC0202O00250A.pdf Personally I use full synthetic but it is not required.

Q: What kind of engine swap can I do to a 1988 Honda Accord?
I want my old 88 honda accord to be as fast as possible. The engine that's in it runs, but it's not in the best of shape and I don't drive the car that often. So I'm just going to make it as fast as possible. What kind of base engine would be the best one to start with, and what all will fit? I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go Turbo, but I'm not too familiar on Honda stuff. I got my 03 mach1 mustang thats pretty quick, but I want my honda to be faster, and to be my sleeper car. Can anyone help me with that?

Q: what is needed for a basic tune up on a 1992 honda accord?
My grand-daughter has a 92 accord that is starting to run rough. I have tuned up older cars in past, but the spark plug wires on her Honda appear different than american made cars. Is there a difference?

A: the most critical adjustment to that car in terms of performance, fuel economy and driveability is the valve adjustment. the valves on that car should be checked and adjusted every 15,000 miles. my guess is that if you can't remember when they were last adjusted that the valve adjustment will go a long way in the idle quality. the spark plugs sit in tubes that run between the top of the valve cover and the cylinder head where the plugs are threaded in. you need an ratchet extension to get the plugs out. the cap and wires need to be inspected if they are old; change them if they have any oil on them. beyond the plugs, air filter, cap, rotor, wires and valve adjustment the "tune up" usually includes other services like brake inspection, transmission fluid change, oil and filter change. those are not responsible for the idle problem but should be done every 30,ooo miles. again, if you don't know the last time they were done you should probably do them. lastly, look into the throttle body and see if there is a build up of carbon around the throttle plates. if there is, use a spray carburetor cleaner to dissolve it. carbon will cause the throttle plates to hang up and give you the rough idle. I think you should start with the valve adjustment and go from there. hope that helps

Q: Where can I get the code for a honda accord anti theft stereo for my daughters car?
I purchased this Honda Accord Ex for my daughters first car about a month ago. The car is 10 years old and I just put a new battery in it.After I installed the new battery it reset the car stereo. It now asks for a code to enter to make the stereo work again. The car does not have the codes anywhere with the car and I called a dealer, they told me I had to take the stereo out ! Common! Any help here?

A: I have a Honda Del Sol. When I bought the car I had the same issue, guess what I called the dealer and they were able to get me a code! I have no idea why your dealer told you this. My dealer contacted Honda and gave the serial number of the car and some info off the stero, they were able to supply a code to the dealer and yes it worked. I have since changed the batterey and the code has always worked! If you have a HONDA stock stero Honda does have the code on file I would contact the Honda headquaters ( I have always done this and they have been super helpful). Each code for Honda steros is different and from what I understand there is no universal code. However depending on the type of stero, they might be able to re-program it. Here is the Honda website: www.honda.com Silly question you did contact a Honda dealer right? I know but, if you bought it used it could be from anywhere and I found that the Honda dealer is the one with the answers. I did not mean to insult you just a simple question. I will let you know that I have the 6 CD changer/Radio from Honda and they are no longer making them or the parts needed so, if more goes wrong with the stereo you might just want to have a place like Best Buy ect... install a new cheap one. If you do get a code there is some important stuff to remember, if you type the code incorrectly 3 times you must RUN the car for a 1/2 hour before you can press the code again. Understand the car must run, no running no second chance. Second you have to press the keys hard and wait for the beep after each one. The book does not tell you this I had to contact Honda and learned the hard way. Good Luck I hope this helps you!

Q: How to make a 2007 Honda Accord into a high performance car?
I currently have a 2007 Honda accord and since I'm new to the whole car upgrading I was wondering how to make it into a " High Performance " car. I would appreciate that your answers specific. Thanks Sorry I put accord I ment to put civic instead

A: The basic performance upgrades (BPU) can help the performance: Cold air intake, headers, and catback exhaust. You can take it up a notch and install lightened pulleys. In addition to the BPU package, the lightened pulleys make quite a noticeable difference; the engine responds better because it has less rotating mass compared to the crank pulley. Just a note, Honda's high performance car is the NSX, some may add the S2000 and possibly the Integra Type-R.
